Overview
Earlier this year, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) published a final rule (ONC Final Rule) relating to its certification program and the prohibition on information blocking established under the 21st Century Cures Act. The ONC Final Rule includes an assortment of compliance and effective dates, some of which have already occurred and others, including the compliance date for information blocking, are just around the corner.
Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) feature prominently in ONC’s Final Rule and will present both implementation challenges and opportunities for providers.
