James Dobias focuses his practice on a wide range of domestic and international corporate crime and investigations related matters, including bribery, corruption, money laundering, tax evasion, fraud, data breach and associated regulatory and compliance issues.  He has experience assisting with and advising on internal investigations, Serious Fraud Office (SFO) and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) investigations, enquiries by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), anti-bribery and corruption compliance, whistleblowing, anti-money laundering (AML) issues and fraud investigations.

Prior to joining McDermott Will & Schulte, James trained and practiced as a senior associate at an international law firm, working on a range of investigations by the SFO, FCA, the US Department of Justice (DoJ) and a number of overseas agencies.  James also spent over two years working at a major litigation funder, focusing on consumer class actions and group claims, gaining a deep understanding of the funding industry and economics, claimant-side strategy and the funnel from regulatory investigations to civil claims.

Anh B. Lee focuses her practice on corporate finance, with an emphasis on representing private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, alternative and direct lenders, public companies, and other privately held businesses. Her representative matters range from leveraged buyouts, secured bond offerings, working capital financings, restructurings and workouts, recurring revenue financings, special situation transactions, and fund subscription facilities. Anh has negotiated and closed transactions in a diverse group of industries, including healthcare, software, retail, financial services, and industrials. Her transactions span the capital structure and vary in size from lower middle-market deals to transactions valued in the multi-billions.

Crain’s Chicago Business recently included Anh on its list of “Notable Women in Law 2022”.

Anh is a co-partner in charge of the Chicago Transactions practice group and the partner in charge of the Firm’s Associates Committee.

She has an active pro bono practice, having obtained clients U-visas, legal permanent residency and relief under the Violence Against Women Act. She has also successfully assisted several transgender clients with legal name changes.

Head of Fund Finance. Represents hedge funds, private equity funds, asset managers, specialty finance companies and investment banks in a wide range of financing transactions.

Dan has particular experience in fund finance, ABL facilities and structured credits, including CLOs, CBOs, CFOs, warehouse lines, leveraged finance vehicles, capital call facilities, NAV facilities, GP, LP and management company financings, secondary facilities, rated feeders and fund-of-fund loans.

He also focuses on a variety of other secured and unsecured finance transactions, both on the borrower and lender side, including cash-flow and asset-based loans, acquisition financing, Term B loans, unitranche loans, mezzanine and subordinate loans, distressed debt investments, workout and restructuring transactions, debtor-in-possession and exit financings, cross-border transactions and other complex credit arrangements.

Stephen has represented underwriters, issuers, lenders and borrowers across a variety of asset classes, including structured settlements, litigation advances, lottery receivables, personal annuities, timeshare loans, equipment leases and life settlements, among others.

He also represents investors, lenders, hedge funds, private equity funds and finance companies in purchases and dispositions of portfolios of assets and financings secured by those portfolios.

Head of CLOs. Represents issuers, underwriters, collateral managers and investors in collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), and advises on other structured finance and asset-backed transactions and swaps and other derivative products, including prime brokerage and customer trading agreements.
