Through French law, European and international texts, but also through the actions taken by companies and the organisations they have set up, the boundaries of compliance have changed. The law on the duty of care and its application by the courts has further changed the framework.

On 17 June 2025, the Paris Court of Appeal handed down its first ruling on this basis, marking a major turning point in the way legal obligations are now interpreted and enforced. What are the key lessons to be learned? What methodological milestones have been set by the judges? What best practices should companies implement?

Nicolette Kost De Sèvres recently joined an LJA roundtable to discuss in depth. Click here to learn more.

The panel will also review, explain, and handicap state and federal standards governing gender affirming care, which have been further complicated with the Supreme Court’s decision in United States v. Skrmetti. Particular attention will be paid to challenges facing employer-sponsored plans as employers seek to accommodate conflicting federal and state laws while also trying to accommodate workforce demands.
