McDermott Will & Schulte announced that Cameron Mitcham has joined the firm as a partner in its Finance Practice Group in London. Cameron joins from Fried Frank and brings extensive experience in structured finance, securitisation and collateralised loan obligations (CLOs), adding further depth to the firm’s structured credit capabilities in London and internationally.

Cameron advises sponsors, asset managers, credit funds, investment banks and other financial institutions on complex transactions across a broad range of asset classes. His practice encompasses CLOs, asset-backed finance, leverage structures, securitisation, private capital fund strategies and Solvency II. He also advises on the restructuring of complex financial transactions.

“Cameron will be a valuable addition to our London structured finance team and to our European CLO offering,” said Harris Siskind, head of McDermott’s Transactions Practice Group. “His extensive experience and deep client relationships complement our established capabilities on both sides of the Atlantic, enhancing the support we offer to clients across our broad private capital platform.”

His arrival builds on McDermott’s continued expansion across Europe, following recent strategic hires including Kalish Mullen in Paris, Oliver Sutter in Frankfurt, Vincenzo Giannantonio and his five-partner M&A and private equity team in Milan, and Lisa Goransson in London.

“Cameron has built an impressive practice and is highly regarded in the structured finance market,” said Aymen Mahmoud, managing partner of the firm’s London office and European head of finance. “His hire represents a strong opportunity to bring his expertise and relationships onto a broader international platform and build on our growing international private capital strength. Cameron’s arrival adds further depth to our London finance team and creates significant opportunities to grow our structured credit offering alongside our existing strengths in private credit and acquisition finance.”

Cameron also brings extensive experience advising on European risk retention requirements and complex regulatory issues involving European and US transactions.

“McDermott offers the depth of expertise and international reach which will allow me to take my practice even further,” said Cameron. “The firm’s established structured credit capabilities, combined with its strength in private capital, funds and finance, provide a natural fit for my clients and the work I do.”
