Munich, October 19, 2023 – McDermott Will & Emery has advised SIGNA Retail group on the sale of the German sports retailer SportScheck to Frasers Group plc after a competitive auction process.
The closing of the transaction is subject to the approval of the competent antitrust authorities and is expected for the first quarter of 2024. The acquisition will enable Frasers to grow its presence in Germany, one of the biggest sports markets in Europe.
SportScheck runs more than 30 stores in prime city locations across Germany and generates annual sales of around €350 million.
SIGNA had acquired SportScheck from the Otto Group in early 2020. McDermott Will & Emery acted as legal counsel to SIGNA Retail also on this transaction.
