In the article “Technology Neutrality of Retransmission” Dr. Wolfgang von Frentz and Dr. Christian Masch highlight the effects of the copyright amendment on the acquisition of retransmission rights (and cable retransmission rights). The result of the amendment is a significantly expanded, mainly technology-neutral administration of rights by collecting societies in the sense of one-stop-shop licensing. The rights of broadcasters to their TV and radio programs are still not subject to collecting societies. In this context, the copyright amendment also clarifies numerous legal issues that were previously disputed under the heading of technology neutrality.
