Understanding CMS Acute Hospital Care at Home Waivers During and After the Public Health Emergency

Overview

In late November 2020, The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced comprehensive steps to increase the capacity of hospital and health systems to provide care to patients outside a traditional hospital setting amid a rising number of COVID-19 hospitalizations across the country. To support these efforts, CMS launched an online portal to streamline the waiver request process and allow hospitals and health systems to submit the necessary information to ensure they meet the program’s criteria to participate.

During this invite-only webinar, we will cover:

  • What the portal is and what it isn’t
  • Compliance concerns
  • What happens after the public health emergency?
  • Advocacy to potentially extend flexibilities beyond the pandemic
  • Next steps
