Ilka Handte advises investment management companies and asset managers on regulatory issues in connection with the structuring, establishment and management of investment funds. She also advises institutional investors on the structuring and eligibility of (fund) investments, in particular in the areas of real estate, infrastructure and private equity.

Prior to joining McDermott Will & Schulte, she worked for several years in the legal department of the German Investment and Asset Management Association (BVI) and for international law firms.

She is also an experienced speaker and participant in panel discussions.

Dr. Maximilian Meyer focuses on domestic and cross-border tax advice relating to transactions, investment structuring and financings. This particularly encompasses the tax efficient structuring of fund investments in alternative assets (PE/VC, debt, RE/Infra), incl. carried interest and (employee) co-investments, both from a sponsor’s and investor’s perspective.

Prior to joining McDermott Will & Schulte, Maximilian worked in the fund structuring team of a Big4 and spent several years in the tax team of a Magic Circle law firm. He is qualified both as a lawyer and tax advisor.

Frank Müller advises investment fund managers, institutional investors, asset managers as well as their regulated and unregulated fund vehicles in all regulatory and real estate law matters in connection with the set-up, structuring and management of funds and their acquisitions. Furthermore, Frank Müller is the managing partner of the firm’s Frankfurt office.

He has extensive experience in the following:

• Foundation of fund management companies and their regulatory advice, including consultations with the respective authorities in Germany and abroad.
• Set-up of investment funds for retail and institutional investors (both contract and corporate type funds).
• Structuring of funds and transactions for institutional investors and asset managers.
• Regulatory and real estate law advice of funds, fund managers and institutional investors with regard to asset deals, share deals, unit deals and project developments in Germany and abroad.
