Overview
Global law firm McDermott Will & Schulte has added Michael (Mike) Tregle as Counsel in its Government Contracts Group, strengthening McDermott’s core bid protest and complex disputes litigation capabilities. Mike joins McDermott’s Washington, DC office and the broader Regulatory Practice Group, where he will also support clients at the intersection of procurement, intellectual property, and Government investigations matters.
“Mike immediately expands what we can deliver to clients,” said Daniel (Dan) Graham, head of McDermott’s Government Contracts group. “We came to know Mike as a formidable adversary on several matters during his time with the U.S. Army Contract Litigation & Intellectual Property Division. When the opportunity arose to be part of the next chapter of his distinguished career, we were all in. He’s a force multiplier, particularly for classified litigation and other sensitive matters.”
Mike brings senior leadership and legal advisory experience, spanning government procurement, national security, international and operational law, ethics, and fiscal law, overseeing legal teams at large, multinational organizations including the US Army. He has led complex litigation and approximately 30 high-value cases involving hundreds of millions of dollars in claims.
His addition comes as Federal agencies, particularly the Department of War, transform their acquisition processes and industry partnerships to prioritize speed, flexibility, and rigorous execution. Clients increasingly seek actionable, business-oriented legal advice that leverages our multi-disciplinary capabilities, innovative commercial solutions and structures, and a deep knowledge of how Government agencies are evolving.
“I am thrilled to join McDermott at such a pivotal moment, when government agencies and contractors alike are navigating rapid transformation in procurement and mission delivery,” said Mike. “Drawing on my experience inside government, I look forward to helping clients anticipate agency priorities, manage risk in sensitive and classified matters, and develop practical, business-oriented strategies that drive successful outcomes.”
