• Best Corporate Practice – Health Care/Pharmaceutical: McDermott’s Health & Life Sciences Group advises clients across the healthcare and life sciences ecosystem on private equity investments, major transactions, complex restructurings, health technology and digital health initiatives, AI integration, and medical technology expansion. This broad range of work reflects the firm’s ability to help clients navigate the legal, regulatory, operational, and commercial issues shaping the industry.
• Best Professional Development Initiative: McDermott’s Professional Development team created an integrated, practice-focused training program to prepare first-year associates for client work while supporting cohesion across the newly combined firm. Through pre-arrival coaching, peer cohorts, interactive boot camps, and partner-led instruction, the initiative strengthened practical skills, built early connections, and established shared expectations across practices and offices.
• Best Provider Collaboration: McDermott implemented Omni, an emerging cloud-native business intelligence platform, to modernize how the firm accesses, governs, and analyzes enterprise-wide data. As the first major law firm to adopt Omni, McDermott also embedded AI, machine learning, and natural language analysis to support faster decision-making, pricing, RFPs, and staffing.

The American Lawyer reviewed hundreds of submissions to identify lawyers, business professionals, law firms, and organizations that are providing the most impactful and innovative work. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in New York City on November 12.
