Cybersecurity risks in the workplace are evolving rapidly as threat actors increasingly exploit hiring, onboarding, and remote-work processes to gain legitimate access to company systems. Using tactics such as stolen or fabricated identities, AI-generated resumes, deepfake interview tools, third-party staffing channels, and remote-access workarounds, these actors can create significant cybersecurity, privacy, employment, and compliance risks for organizations.
Join members of McDermott Will & Schulte’s Employment and Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity Groups for a practical discussion of how workforce-based cyber threats arise, what legal and operational risks they create, and how organizations can strengthen their prevention, detection, and response strategies.
Discussion topics will include:
- How threat actors exploit hiring, onboarding, remote work, and contractor relationships to gain access to company systems
- Key cybersecurity risks associated with insider access to company systems and sensitive information
- Privacy and breach-notification considerations when employee, customer, or proprietary data may be exposed
- Employment-law considerations in responding to suspected workforce-based cyber threats
- Practical steps organizations can take to strengthen prevention, detection, response, and compliance protocols
