Oscar Choo

Oscar is an Associate in the China Practice. He advises on complex, high-value commercial litigation and international arbitration, acting in multi-jurisdictional, bet-the-company disputes involving multibillion-dollar interests. He has represented state-owned entities, FTSE 100 companies, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, with an increasing focus on civil fraud, offshore disputes, and cross-border enforcement.

Prior to joining McDermott, Oscar completed his training at a leading Magic Circle firm and worked at the London office of a leading US-based law firm.

• Acted for a Germany-based bank as lender on the combined €240 million refinancing of seven logistics space assets in the Netherlands, Spain and the UK.*
• Represented a state-owned bank in global enforcement proceedings against Russia relating to a US$1 billion UNCITRAL award for expropriation of investments following the annexation of Crimea.*
• Advised a Swiss telecommunications provider on a receivables financing transaction of up to CHF 125m of Class A and Class B Notes.*
• Represented Endeavour Mining in an LCIA arbitration against Lilium Gold in respect of the sale and purchase of two gold mines in Burkina Faso worth over US$140 million.*
• Represented a minority shareholder of a multinational FMCG company in an ownership dispute involving issues of minority oppression and shareholder rights.*
