Boston Bar Association, Tax Section, “State Tax for Start-Ups”

Rich Call will discuss state tax issues for start-ups, focusing on nexus and taxability for sales tax purposes, including taxation of cloud service and digital products, as well as withholding requirements for executives and income tax nexus.

“Friday Fundamentals” is the BBA’s weekly educational series designed to offer an introduction to the basic legal skills and fundamental knowledge lawyers need to get a foothold and grow in their understanding of a given area of practice. This program is designed to introduce both new lawyers and experienced non-tax lawyers to the nuts and bolts of tax law. The panel of tax experts will discuss the framework and key issues of federal, international and state tax law, as well as ERISA. The program provides lawyers with the tools to understand basic tax issues that commonly arise in business matters and to spot difficult issues that may require additional guidance.
