Fear of the unknown is typically warranted, but historically hasn’t stopped us from leaping in. When the unknown involves integrating a novel technology into something so critical as a life or death healthcare decision, fear and caution are amplified. Generative AI has the potential to truly revolutionize healthcare delivery and decision-making, but it’s crucial to take slow, deliberate steps, proceed with caution, and follow the advice of experts. We’ve all seen Black Mirror! What is on the regulatory agenda when it comes to placing guardrails around AI’s use in healthcare and where will we draw the ethical line in the deployment of new use cases? We may not have all the answers yet, but government, healthcare and tech leaders are ramping up the dialogue to remain a few steps ahead of AI. But the clock is ticking and AI is no slow poke!
