McDermott Will & Schulte advised the pool of outgoing banks and the pool of financing banks of the Porta Nuova Varesine Fund on the financing arrangements related to the refinancing of the Fund in the context of the co-investment by COIMA SGR, as manager of the Porta Nuova Varesine fund, and BNP Paribas in the vehicle that owns Torre Diamante in Porta Nuova, Milan, which has housed the bank’s headquarters since 2016.
Porta Nuova Varesine Fund owns several iconic buildings in Milan including Torre Diamante, an asset valued at more than €400 million designed by the international firm Kohn Pedersen Fox, which is one of the most recognizable buildings on the Milan skyline. The transaction was completed through the repayment of the existing facilities, the new financing arrangement and the contribution of Torre Diamante by the Porta Nuova Varesine Fund to the Porta Nuova Diamond Fund, with a simultaneous co-investment by BNP Paribas.
The McDermott team was led by partners Andrea Giaretta and Francesco Romeo and included associate Marco Colombo and trainee Francesca Misciasci on real estate and banking law matters, with partner Giuseppe Mazzarella advising on tax matters.
