Overview
In celebration of Black History Month and as part of the Schulte Speaker Series, the firm welcomed Nadia Rawlinson, the co-owner and operating chairman of the WNBA team Chicago Sky. Prior to joining the championship-winning team, Nadia’s remarkable journey included roles as the Chief People Officer at Slack Technologies and Chief Human Resources Officer for Live Nation Entertainment, in addition to leadership positions at Rakuten Americas, Groupon and American Express.
Nadia’s diverse experiences across different industries have shaped how she leads and inspires her team, which she considers her civic duty as a Chicago native. Under Nadia’s leadership as a skilled investor, the Sky have experienced significant growth; this includes a capital raise with NBA Hall of Famer Dwayne Wade which increased the franchise’s valuation to $95 million.
Describing her role in the franchise as a “fortuitous experience,” Nadia views the Sky as a community asset, emphasizing the team’s significant role and positive impact in Chicago. “I feel like I’m a steward of something that’s bigger than myself,” Nadia stated.
