Annual IBA Employment and Diversity Law Conference 2026

Overview

The annual IBA Employment and Diversity Law Conference is presented by the IBA Employment and Industrial Relations Law Committee and the IBA Diversity and Equality Law Committee.

As artificial intelligence transforms the modern workplace, legal systems around the world are racing to keep pace. This global conference brings together leading experts to explore the evolving intersection of AI and employment law.

Over two days, participants will engage in dynamic discussions on topics such as algorithmic hiring, workplace surveillance, data privacy, bias and discrimination in AI systems, and the implications of automation on labor rights and employment contracts. The conference will also examine regulatory developments across jurisdictions and offer practical guidance for employers navigating compliance in a rapidly changing landscape.

With keynote addresses, expert panels, and interactive workshops, this event provides a unique platform for cross-border collaboration and thought leadership on one of the most pressing legal challenges of our time.

A McDermott partner will speak at the following sessions:

Roundtable: Managing Multinational Employment Law Compliance in an Era of Constant Change Across Jurisdictions
April 23, 2026
1:45 – 3:00 pm (CET)
Speaker: Todd Solomon

With employment laws shifting rapidly across jurisdictions, compliance is more complex than ever. This interactive roundtable brings together experts from various jurisdictions to share strategies for staying ahead of regulatory changes and managing global risk. From tension over return-to-work policies, reputational and staff cohesion issues over geopolitical views and the (mis)use of AI, participants will be invited to work in groups to identify the key challenges facing companies today and how these can be addressed. The session will conclude with each group presenting a list of their proposed challenges and possible solutions. This will be a highly engaging and interactive session.
