Mac Routh focuses his practice on complex civil, criminal, regulatory and government contracting matters. He represents clients in grand jury investigations, congressional investigations, internal investigations, litigation and administrative matters. Mac also has experience analyzing and advising on political, legislative, and regulatory developments, as well as drafting legislation.
Mac’s investigations experience includes representing clients in high-profile, sensitive investigations by the US Department of Justice, US House Committee on Energy and Commerce and Select Committees of the US House of Representatives.
Mac’s experience with government contracting matters includes counseling clients on compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), conducting due diligence in connection with mergers and acquisitions in the defense, health care, and technology sectors and assisting clients with bid protest litigation before the US Court of Federal Claims and the US Government Accountability Office (GAO). This experience includes conducting government contract due diligence in connection with a $30 billion transaction in the health care sector that represented the largest leveraged buyout since 2008. It also includes assisting a large professional services firm in developing and implementing government contract compliance policies and procedures.
Mac also has extensive experience with the US Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), including advising numerous clients on eligibility issues, compliance with program rules, loan forgiveness and appeals of loan forgiveness denials.
Mac maintains an active pro bono practice, including representing veterans seeking appeals of adverse disability and retirement determinations and advising small businesses on obtaining government grants and loans.
During law school, Mac served as a law clerk for the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation and was a staff editor of the Journal of National Security Law & Policy. He was also a member of Georgetown Law’s Federal Legislation Clinic.
Before attending law school, Mac worked in government affairs for a transportation union and served as a legislative assistant to a member of the US House of Representatives.
