Syed K. Fareed guides multinational clients through all aspects of high-stakes intellectual property disputes, often serving as lead counsel in high-tech patent litigation. Drawing on more than a decade of experience, he represents clients’ interests in district courts throughout the United States, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the International Trade Commission (USITC) and the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Syed’s clients span across diverse sectors, including computer software, e-commerce, telecommunications, data processing, semiconductors, magnetic tape storage and medical and dental devices.

- Lead counsel for a major electric utility in high-stakes patent litigation involving emissions control technology, developing and leading a coordinated district court and Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) strategy that substantially shifted the leverage in the case. After securing key litigation and PTAB wins, Syed helped resolve the matter on highly favorable terms that eliminated the client’s exposure and protected its power-plant operations
- Represented a medical device company in a dual-front patent litigation before the Eastern District of Texas and Unified Patent Court involving knotless suture technology. The team secured several early victories and created significant injunction leverage in Europe, culminating in a confidential settlement on favorable terms
- Served as lead counsel for a power generation company in litigation involving multiple patents and secured a stay pending inter partes review (IPR), followed shortly by a settlement on favorable terms*
