Christopher (Chris) Gladbach is the global co-head of the firm’s Energy & Project Finance Group. He counsels clients on energy mergers and acquisitions (M&A), project development, tax equity, private credit, and project finance transactions.

Chris works with energy clients in structuring complex equity and debt investments. He advises both buyers and sellers in the power sector on M&A, joint ventures, and the development of large-scale energy projects.

Private credit and project finance

  • Assisted Infranity in providing private capital through a mezzanine portfolio financing facility with renewable energy projects across 23 states, ranging from commercial solar to utility-scale storage, with a total operating capacity of 377 MW
  • Assisted Doral Renewables in the development and financing of Mammoth Solar, a $1.5 billion, 1.3 GWac project in Indiana set to be the largest solar facility in the United States and Western Hemisphere. Spanning four phases, it will power 275,000 homes annually starting Q4 2026. This transaction was awarded Proximo’s Emergying Energy award
  • Represented Invenergy in connection with an approximately $547 million debt facility consisting of a construction loan, bridge loan, letter of credit facility, and term loan commitment provided by a syndicate of banks arranged by CoBank, ACB relating to a 275 MW solar facility co-located with an approximately 1,100 MWh battery storage facility in Arizona
  • Assisted Novel Energy Solutions, a national solar energy developer and operator, in the holding company mezzanine and senior financing for a platform of more than approximately 200 community solar projects in Maine and Minnesota
  • Represented a leading global renewable energy developer in the approximately $100 million debt facility of a 200 MWhAC standalone storage facility in Arizona
  • Represented a private equity investment manager in a $100 million preferred equity investment to develop and construct several co-located renewable energy and green chemical projects across North America
  • Represented a private equity investment manager in a $100 million convertible debt to a developer of renewable natural gas from anaerobic digestion

M&A and tax equity

  • Represented Irradiant Partners (now Apollo) in the acquisition of equity interests in a solar project and two wind projects in Texas
  • Represented one of the US’s largest developers and operators of clean energy projects in connection with an approximately $491 million tax equity investment provided by U.S. Bancorp Community Development Corporation (an affiliate of U.S. Bank National Assocatiation) relating to a 275 MW solar facility co-located with an approximately 1,100 MWh battery storage facility in Arizona
  • Assisted American Electric Power Company in negotiating and signing the build-transfer agreement for a 224 MW solar project being developed by an affiliate of Lightsource bp in Pulaski County, Indiana
  • Represented a leading developer in connection with the sale of a $360 million 250 MW solar farm in Illinois
  • Represented a leading global renewable energy developer in a total of $309 million tax equity investments of a 200 MWhAC standalone storage facility in Arizona and a 310 MW solar farm in Texas
  • Represented a leading developer in connection with the proposed sale and construction of a utility-scale solar project in Wisconsin

Project development

  • Represented a prominent sponsor and its affiliated companies in the negotiation and documentation of a construction loan facility and a letter of credit facility needed for the development of a 259.8-megawatt wind project in Illinois
  • Represented an investment manager focused on liquid credit and renewable private equity and credit in the offering of a maximum aggregate principal loan amount of $100 million to Bioenergy Development Group Holdco, LLC
  • Represented a leading US developer in a 20-year tolling Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a Colorado wind generating facility with CORE Electric Cooperative
  • Represented a leading US developer in a 20-year tolling PPA for a Colorado natural gas plant with CORE Electric Cooperative
  • Represented a leading US developer in a 20-year hybrid solar-storage tolling PPA for a Colorado facility with CORE Electric Cooperative
  • Represented the developer in the negotiation of a 15-year PPA with Verizon related to 150 MW of a 300 MW facility
