International law firm McDermott Will & Schulte today announced that money transmitter licensing lawyer Laurie Rosini has joined the firm as a partner in its Litigation Practice Group in New York, further strengthening the industry’s only crypto-exclusive team whose lawyers devote 100% of their practice to digital asset matters.

Amid the heightened global scrutiny of digital assets, evolving regulatory frameworks, and expanded sanctions enforcement, McDermott’s sophisticated regulatory guidance is more vital than ever. Laurie’s experience will be particularly critical to clients as they pursue strategic acquisitions, expand across jurisdictions, and launch new products under intensified compliance and operational reviews.

“Clients in crypto and payments are facing unprecedented regulatory activity at both the state and federal levels,” said Josh Simon, global head of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. “Laurie brings the licensing and enforcement experience they need to launch products confidently, scale across jurisdictions, and manage risk in real time. Her addition strengthens our ability to deliver fully integrated crypto and traditional finance counsel under one roof.”

“MTLs, trust charters, and OCC licenses are the lifeblood for crypto companies in the U.S.,” said Joseph (Joe) Evans, head of McDermott’s FinTech and Blockchain Practice. “Laurie is one of the biggest names out there for crypto and FinTech MTLs – huge acquisition for us.”

“Regulatory complexity should not slow innovation,” said Laurie. “McDermott’s crypto-focused platform allows us to help clients move faster, with strategic, end-to-end support designed for this industry.”

Laurie’s arrival, following the recent addition of partner Steve Knipfelberg, underscores McDermott’s continued investment in its fintech and blockchain capabilities and its commitment to supporting clients operating at the forefront of financial innovation.

Laurie advises cryptocurrency exchanges, token issuers, broker-dealers, and fintech platforms on high-stakes regulatory matters, including money transmission, anti-money laundering, sanctions, cybersecurity, consumer protection, and digital asset classification. A nationally recognized leader in money transmitter licensing and fintech regulation, she has led complex multi-state licensing initiatives and built compliance programs for global digital asset platforms. She also conducts regulatory due diligence in M&A transactions and advises on product development and operational readiness for emerging financial technologies.
