Boris Uphoff and Laura Morelli wrote this bylined article on how a potential UK exit from the EU could cause the “collapse” of the new European unitary patent system (UPC). “London would have to be given up as a location for the UPC [and] English judges… could not apply to become judges at the UPC” in the event of an exit, the authors wrote, and added, “If there indeed was a vote for Britain to leave the EU, the remaining member states of the EU would have to re-negotiate the unitary patent.”
